24 Weeks

How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Total gain of about 10 pounds so far.
Maternity clothes? Yes and no. I’m finding my maternity jeans are starting to get annoying. They do that thing where they stretch out almost immediately. I’ve been recently going out with regular jeans held up with a belly band. (Thanks Julie!)

Stretch marks? None yet!
Sleep: Sleep has been hit and miss. I’m consistently waking up every few hours just to roll over, have something to drink, or lately because my belly has been causing me pain. (Don’t panic! It’s just round ligament pain from a growing belly.)

Best moment this week: We got the glider! We also had a wonderful visit from Kyle’s parents.
Miss Anything? I’m feeling like I’ve become a lot weaker, and I miss having muscles. I’ve lost quite a bit of muscle tone over the last few months just from exhaustion, sitting around in a hospital bed, and not exercising like I used to.

Movement: Kyle’s mom was able to feel little ninja do some kicks and flips.
Food Cravings:I can’t think of anything specific I craved this week, but I definitely had a few “pregnancy crazy moments” to make up for the lack of food cravings.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  No! Thank goodness! I did manage to hurt my tailbone by helping lift the glider into the car (it didn’t fit for anyone interested) and it’s still recovering. It hurt to cough for the first 4 days so I’ve been subconsciously avoiding coughing. By day 3 I could feel the affects of not efficiently coughing. Now that it’s feeling better and no longer kills me to cough I’ve been coughing quite a bit.

Gender: She is still a she, and no, we still won’t share her name. =)

Labor signs: None! I’ve been having some stomach pain to the point where it wakes me up, but it turns out it’s just round ligament pain due to a growing baby & growing uterus.

Belly button in or out? By now you know that I have this weird thing about belly buttons. I think they’re just plain ‘ole creepy. It’s started it’s final journey of flipping inside out. Half of it’s out and half of it’s stuck in the flat pancake stage. And yes, it freaks me out. Blah.

Happy or moody most of the time? Like I previously mentioned I’ve had some crazy pregnancy moments this week. One of which was a major hissy-fit & meltdown when the glider we picked up wouldn’t fit in the car so we had to go back for it the next day. I had a slight episode of nesting rage, since I just wanted the damn glider THAT night. While logically I knew it wasn’t a big deal, my mommy hormones said otherwise. It felt like the end of the world people. My poor husband.

Looking forward to:  Now that the glider is here! woohoo! And my husband and his father painted the nursery ceiling white (and finished caulking) I can go pick up the room paint and get started! After that we can order the crib and start getting things set up! I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to walk into a white-ceiling, empty room and sit in the glorious glider! My crazy mommy hormones are satisfied… for now.

23 Weeks

How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Total gain of about 10 pounds so far.
Maternity clothes? I recently found some great T-shirt bargains at Target. They weren’t maternity shirts (except for the one I’m wearing here) but they were 2.50$. I bought a couple sizes up and hopefully they’ll last long enough for my growing belly.
I’ve been wearing maternity jeans, but the one thing that really bugs me about them is they get so baggy so quickly! They look great when I first put them on, but then five minutes later the legs and but are all lumpy and frumpy. I wore regular jeans with a belly band yesterday and I felt much more put together. They weren’t as comfortable for a long period of time, but for running a few errands it did the trick!

Stretch marks? None yet. I think I’m gaining weight so slowly that my belly really hasn’t had to stretch super duper quickly yet so I’ve been able to avoid stretch marks this far. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks as they want me to start gaining a pound a week!
Sleep: I officially kicked kyle out of the bed! I need two body pillows to comfortably sleep and I can no longer roll from side to side without looking like a beached whale. Normally I roll in place from side to side, but now with a big round belly (that just keeps getting bigger!) my rolls have turned into flops. I am now flopping from one side to the other, and it takes up about 3/4 of the bed to do so.

Best moment this week: Visiting with my mom and sister. My mom felt the baby kick, but my little miss went stone cold every time my sister tried to feel! I also got my Picc line out on Monday and took a shower without my arm being in a bag. First “bag-less” shower in almost 3 weeks! Miss Anything? I’m really missing gymnastics. I’m also missing warm weather- it was in the 60’s this weekend and sunny! Such a tease because now it’s snowing.

Movement: This girl is going to be a gymnast just like her mama! She kicks, flips, and rolls all night long! She also continues to jam out to music.
Food Cravings:I swear I’m continually craving Dr. Pepper. Last week it was a rootbeer float.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Yes. Unfortunately one of the reasons I missed last week’s post is due to one of my IV meds making me sick! I started running fevers again along with having the shakes and chills. It also thoroughly messed up my digestive tract and I was having stomach aches after every meal. Those symptoms plus having a picc line that was really sluggish landed me in the ER (and then Labor and Delivery since the ER refuses to see patients over 16 weeks pregnant…). It was quite the ordeal since L&D doesn’t ever deal with picc lines, and at the time we thought it was infected. After a few confusing hours of “where the heck am I suppose to go?” I ended up staying in L&D and getting all the tests for Picc done and being sent home. I was feeling better so we extended the hold on my IV’s and I’ve been off them since. We now know that I shouldn’t use one of the drugs I was on since I was most likely having a reaction to it.

On a diffferent note, while sitting in our L&D triage room we could hear the woman laboring next door to us. Kyle turns to me with wide terror eyes and let’s me know that if I’m going to be screaming things like she is, (“I can’t do it, it hurts too much, ow, etc.) he may pass out… as a heads up.  Bahaha. I’m sure he’s not the first husband to pass out, and I’m sure if he does, he won’t be the last.

Gender: Baby girl! We’ve bought some cute dresses and girly things while shopping with Auntie and Grandma this past weekend!! So darn cute. However, I would like to point out that we also have picked up a few items from the boys section because girls can wear little monster hoodies too…

Labor signs: None! With all the stomach pain and cramping from the IV drug, I was worried it would lead to some early contractions. Luckily that was not the case.

Belly button in or out? It’s in it’s weird flat as a pancake stage. It’s starting to look a little bulgy again so I’m sure it’s going to be flipping out any week now. I’m just throwing this out there, belly buttons are weird. They’re weird to begin with and then during pregnancy? Oh forget it, I don’t think it’ll ever get weirder than this.

Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been feeling pretty good this past week. Lots of laughing. In fact, I may have peed my pants a little last night laughing so hard at the dinner table. (IT BEGINS! DUN DUN DUN) I also laughed myself to the point of crying while we were at the hospital during the whole ER/L&D debacle. When you feel better, you’re happier. When you’re happier you laugh more. Let’s hope I continue to laugh all the way to June!

Looking forward to:  Our glider came in! I can’t wait to pick it up and assemble it. We’re also having Kyle’s parents down this week and I’m looking forward to their visit. Next week we’re sseeing his sister since she’s down for work, and after that my Dad is visiting! My birthday is thrown in there somewhere too. Lot’s of fun and exciting things happening and I’m so thankful that I’m actually feeling great and will be able to enjoy all our visits.

21 Weeks

How far along? 21 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: At my appointment yesterday I weighed in at 123.7! Take about 1.5lbs for my jeans and heavy shirt, and we’re looking at 122. Up from last week’s 119.5 –I’m feeling much more relieved knowing I’m starting to gain some weight again.
Maternity clothes? Since having another stay at the hospital hotel, my week consisted of PJ pants and Kyle’s Tee’s. Now that I’m home I’m enjoying wearing some normal human clothes for when I go out. The top in these pictures is a maternity shirt I hope to be able to wear for the remaining 19 weeks!
Stretch marks? None so far, but oh the belly button!
Sleep: This past hospital stay I demanded that no-one wake me up for vitals every 4 hours. Since I was just in for the flu (where they did indeed, wake me up every 3-4 hours) they agreed my sleep was more important. It went pretty well, except for one CNA who didn’t get the memo. Now that I’m home I’m sleeping much more comfortably in my big bed! I’ve temporarily kicked Kyle to the office couch so he doesn’t accidentally punch my Picc arm while we sleep, or get tangled in my IV tubes.
Best moment this week: So many nice moments this week. I’d say it’s a three way tie between going home, gaining some weight, and sorting through little girl hand-me-downs!

Hard to believe the person that I’m growing will FIT into this onesie at some point.

Miss Anything? Getting out of bed without feeling like an oompa loompa. Who knew I’d have to be ‘rolling’ out so soon.
Movement: Baby Girl is still quite the wiggler. She still is in her favorite position; curled up with her hands over her face (as seen on a quick ultrasound yesterday). Her head is still on my left side, with her bum, knees and feet on my right.
Food Cravings:While I have no specific cravings, I am finding myself actually feeling hungry again! Food is much easier to eat when you actually feel hungry vs. just forcing yourself to eat  because it’s been x amount of time since you last ate.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I usually drink all my beverages through reusable straws. I decided to forgo the straw yesterday morning for breakfast, and ended up getting sick after being able to ‘smell the milk’ in my cup. Um? Totally out of the blue, totally weird. I went back to using straws.
Belly button in or out? Oh my little belly button. It’s no longer half in and half out, it’s at this flat pancake stage. You can obviously see that it’s still a belly button, but it’s pretty flush with the rest of the belly. I’d take a picture of it for you but then you’d stop reading my blog.
Happy or moody most of the time? I’d say around day 4 in the hospital I started feeling SO much better. When you feel better you’re just plain happier. Good moods followed for the rest of the week! Here’s to many more weeks of feeling better and being happy!
Looking forward to:  1. Picking up the Glider soon!
                            2. Family coming down to visit.

                            3. Finalizing paint colors and getting the room painted.

My IV pump bag has become my temporary baby. I have to lug this thing EVERYWHERE.

Oliver’s Favorite Room

Poor Oliver; his favorite room has been overthrown by boxes of baby girl clothing!

21 week post will be up tomorrow. Today was spent traveling to appointments (baby is doing great! I’m feeling better after another stay in the hospital), administering home IV’s, and sorting through some baby-girl hand-me-downs.

Baby Overdeep is a Girl!

How far along? 20 Weeks! Half-way done.

Total weight gain/loss: Still holding out at 120ish. I’m supposed to start gaining a pound a week from this point out. We’ll see how that goes, but so far I’m doubtful that I’ll be able to pull it off.
Maternity clothes? Rocking my mix of maternity jeans, stretchy shirts, and some maternity shirts.
Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: Sleep has gotten better. I didn’t get much in the hospital, but ever since I’ve been home I’ve been sleeping soundly. With the exception of last night; I was too excited for the finalizing of the gender this morning.
Best moment this week: Finding out that we are officially having a baby girl! She’s growing really well, and everything looks great so far.
Miss Anything? I miss being able to bend over without thinking about it. I’m starting to get uncomfortable when I’m putting on my lace-up winter boots.
Movement: This girly is already practicing her soccer skills. I feel kicks and punches all day long! She jams out when I’m listening to upbeat music, or when I’m playing the piano & singing. She tends to roll around a lot at night! There have been some instances where she hunkers down in one spot, usually to one side or the other, and it can get quite uncomfortable. But, I love it and wouldn’t trade it for the world! Especially when we’re out and about, little nugget will start kicking away and I feel like it’s a secret since I’m the only one who knows!

Food Cravings:  I had a craving for Chicken Korma yesterday, so I ordered chicken korma. haha.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Feeling pretty good now that I’m over the flu!
Yup, it’s a girl.

Gender: Baby Overdeep is a GIRL!

Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? It”s threatening to flip out any time now.
Happy or moody most of the time? Well, all in all pretty happy. I survived the flu with minimal side effects, had a short hospital stay, found out we’re having a girl, and get to go back to napping! I’d say overall this week has been happy!
Looking forward to: Painting the nursery walls so we can order the crib! We already ordered the glider so it will be here in a few weeks!!

“Thumbs up for things going swimmingly”
Baby at the ultrasound today was giving us “thumbs up” for everything going “swimmingly”. <Bad pun created by Kyle> She was so cozy in her spot I have to go back next week for another scan! She was so content that she didn’t move enough for a spinal measurement. Little girl was positioned so that her back was towards my back/ribs. Her bottom was towards my right hip. Since her spine was tucked to the back the technician couldn’t manipulate the image enough to get a measurement. Little troublemaker was kicking the wand away but refused to roll over. She also kept her hands by her face almost the whole time. Hopefully next week she’ll be a bit more cooperative.
Oliver wanted to be in the pictures too! The first picture cracks me up, that face!

I’m not sure Oliver ‘gets’ that I’m pregnant. I think once the baby is here it will be his baby. Fun fact: Pit bulls were originally bred to be ‘nanny dogs’ which is where their territorial instinct comes into play. They were protecting their babies! People then used to them as guard dogs and they got a bad rap. Oliver is the sweetest pumpkin with our neighborhood kids. I can’t wait to see him with the nugget. Like I said, I have a feeling he’s going to think it’s his baby.

Mood Board

Progress in the nursery is still ongoing. We’ve managed to sell one desk and the coordinating chair making the room much more empty than before. Holes in the walls have been patched, and caulking of trim has begun! It won’t be long until we’re putting up a fresh coat(s) of paint. It’s this progress that had me thinking that I should develop a more concrete plan for this room. As the weeks go by it’ll be nice to have a ‘cheat sheet’ for reference. Without further ado a very simplistic version of Baby Overdeep’s Nursery.

I still am loving the idea of soft taupes, creams, and tans with a deep dark aubergine wall. We found a glider that isn’t offensive to look at <yea, I’m looking at you, you wooden gliders!> that won’t break the bank. The taupe weaved fabric will do well against everyday wear and tear, and the white piping adds a little contrast. We won’t be purchasing the matching ottoman seeing as the room is pretty tiny and the ottoman isn’t, in my book, a necessity.

We’ll most likely being going with a plain white crib. While we liked the look of a deep cherry colored crib, we’re bringing a medium walnut toned dresser into the room and I didn’t want crib and dresser to compete. The brown square of color represents the walnut color of the dresser. It’s a little less red in real life. The hardware on the dresser is a brushed gold, very similar to the honeycomb table.

I’d like to bring in a small table to have next to the glider. I’ve been eyeing the new Threshold line at Target (Target is my weakness people) and they have this fantastic metal honeycomb table that practically jumps into my cart each time we’re there. While it may not be the most practical table out there, it sure is easy on the eyes. I may or may not drool while I peruse the aisle of Target; please tell me I’m not the only one who is obsessed with their Threshold line  the whole damn store?

On the same note, I’d love to bring in a soft table lamp so we’re not dependent upon the bright overhead light. There are plenty of options, but since it seems I’m obsessed with honeycombs, hexagons, and all things shiny I threw a Target Threshold lamp on the board as well. Weakness people, it’s a weakness.

I’d like to add some storage, whether it’s soft canvas bins or woven baskets to add texture, I think we’ll need the extra storage space. The closet is pretty limited in size, and it doesn’t help that we store out of season jackets (and in my case, dresses!) on one half of the closet. We’ll definitely be able to fit everything we need in terms of clothing into the closet- thanks to the organizer I built! Extras such as blankets, toys and cloth diapers will be housed in the dresser and any other storage we bring in.

The accent colors are still undecided. I’m really holding off until my anatomy scan tomorrow. I really am digging the deep orangey/coral and greens though more so than the light sea-glass colors. I’m really open to suggestions about accent colors! =)

Well there you have it folks.

19 Weeks

Usually I have much better pictures for this, but considering my options this is as good as it’s going to get.

How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Still sitting pretty at 120ish. (I was 119.6 when being weighed in on Sunday night, but I have very light clothing on vs. the jeans and sweater I had on when I weighed in at 120.8 – we’re calling it the same weight. )
Maternity clothes? PJ pants and t-shirts
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Sleep has been tough the past week. More specially since Saturday. My chest pain makes it uncomfortable to lie flat on my side, coughing keeps me up as does the regular hustle bustle of being in a hospital overnight. Last night I got a few good hours.
Best Worst moment this week: Finding out I have the flu. BOO.
Miss Anything? I miss being able to do handstands and backbends. I feel like I could really use a good back bend. I’m also missing sleep a bit.
Movement: Nugget hunkers down real low when I cough, and I don’t blame her(him) I would want to get away from my constricting stomach muscles too! So the last few days I haven’t felt as much movement as usually. I still feel her(him) flip flop and budge up on my right side when I haven’t been coughing for a while. Usually during the evening.
Food Cravings: Liquids. I just want lots of liquids. Hot broth, cold milk, icy water, etc.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Oh, just the flu.
Gender: ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL WE KNOW FOR SURE!
Labor signs: None- thank goodness that’s the last thing I’d want while I have the flu.
Belly button in or out? It’s working it’s way out. Kyle and I joke, that I’m going to have one big cough and it’s just going to pop itself inside out.
Happy or moody most of the time? Considering the situation (hospital, flu, chest pains, little sleep) I think my mood is pretty good. I’ve only snapped at one person but it’s because they were not following the gown-ing up rule.
Looking forward to: Feeling better and going home! And of course, as usually, the ultrasound next Tuesday.

I don’t have many updates about my stay in the hospital. We’re holding off on getting a picc until we see what my PFT’s look like tomorrow. If they’re not too below baseline then I will most likely keep peripheral lines until I go home. When I go home I’ll most likely go home with oral antibiotics. I’ll go home when my chest pain is alleviated/my flu symptoms are gone and I’m feeling better.

If my PFT’s are WAY below baseline- as in- there’s no way this is just the flu… then I’ll get scheduled for a picc and do a full blown tune-up. Most likely 10 – 12 days inpatient then another week or so of home therapy.

For the moment we’re all still operating under the assumption that all my lung issues are being caused by the flu at the moment. While I’m in the hospital waiting for the flu to leave, I will be getting 2/3 of my normal CF IV cocktail. (Only 2/3 since the last med is a huge No-no in pregnancy.) We’re doing this so that whatever mucus is trapped in my lungs, since I’m having a hard time moving things up and out, won’t fester into a separate infection.

18 Weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks – My belly still looks about the same from last week. I can’t see any visible growth in size.
Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t weighed myself, so let’s assume I’m still up the almost 7 lbs from prepregnancy weight.
Maternity clothes? This week consisted mostly of PJ’s for me. When I did head out, I was rocking my H&M Mama jeans all week. So. Darn. Comfy.
Stretch marks? Nope, still slathering that coconut oil on for the itchy belly syndrome that’s going on.

Sleep: Sleep is hit or miss these days. I have trouble staying asleep. When I do wake up I usually start coughing and have a hard time falling back asleep. I’m back to napping almost every day to make up for the lack of sleep.
Best moment this week: The best moment this week was last night. Kyle and I were laying in bed while little Nugget wiggled away, and when I stretch out you can see little teeny tiny flops happening. Kyle finally saw one! They’re still so little that you can’t really feel them yet, but definitely seeing it was the highlight of the week.
Miss Anything? I don’t really miss anything besides, well, sleeping at night.
Movement: Lot’s of movement at night or when I’m resting to nap. I even saw (and felt) a distinct kick when stretched out and rubbing my lower tummy. That night even Kyle was able to see some movement!

Food Cravings:I’m starting to crave coffee, so much to the point where I just bought a simple single serving coffee maker. It’s interesting because while I drink coffee every once in a while, I’m not a huge coffee lover. I can’t even blame the caffeine since I’ve been getting decaf! Something about it, I just find myself craving it. I figure since I’m adding a bunch of cream, it’s not too bad as far as cravings go. 😉
Anything making you queasy or sick? I had a Kale Caesar Salad yesterday from a restaurant that left me feeling a little less than wonderful. Also probably part of the reason I couldn’t fall asleep last night!
Gender: Still anxiously waiting for February 4th! We’ve been calling the Nugget “she” and “her” lately though, so if it does turn out to be a boy, we’ll have to change our ways.
Labor signs: nope. On a side note, our neighbor is due to go into labor any day now! How exciting.

Belly button in or out? It’s still doing it’s wonky, in and out thing. You can see it through my shirts now and when I cough it really sticks out. I think in a few more weeks it will start flipping inside out.
Happy or moody most of the time? I asked Kyle this question and his answer was, “Miserable,” to which I disagree. I had one pretty miserably cranky day out of the week, which is apparently the only day he can remember, but then I had quite a few good days. I think the good days outshine the one miserable day. I deem this week “overall happy.”
Looking forward to: 1. Painting the trim, and selling the desks on Craigslist.
2. I’m also looking forward to the anatomy scan in two weeks since Kyle will be coming with me. He hasn’t been to an ultrasound where the nugget actually looks like a baby, so I’m very excited for him to witness the awesomeness.
3. I’m looking forward to the sun coming back! We had quite the snow storm today which made taking pictures a bit trickier, hence just the one picture today.

Nursery Progress!

Watercolor Fox

Last Friday proved to be a very productive day for me. In the morning I was able to run some errands, make some returns, and even pick up a few paint samples for the nursery accent wall! I was feeling a bit short of breath due to the extreme cold weather so after my hour of errands I hunkered down in the warm house for the rest of the day. I have been waiting on Kyle sanding the nursery trim so I can start priming and giving it a fresh coat of white paint. Painting the trim that afternoon wasn’t an option, so I turned to the next best thing– painting some cute watercolors for Nugget’s nursery walls!

Watercolor Badger -Kyle’s requested animal

I turned to Etsy for some inspiration and then got to work. I ended up painting for almost 3 hours. The badger took 3 tries before I finally gave up and just ‘went for it,’ smearing black paint where I felt like it may look good. And then adding even more black paint just because I had some extra. This sloppy attempt turned out to be the best.

I also managed to slap the three colors I picked up from lowes, on the wall. There’s one color I’m really drawn to. It is in no way your classic ‘baby color.’ I’m sure some people would even think of it as ‘harsh’ for a nursery. I think it’s going to be cozy and calming. I’m looking for a deep bold wall with lots of neutral colors layered in. Earthy, woody-s, and calm are the three things that enter my mind when I think of my ideal nursery.

Watercolor Hedgehog

Over the weekend Kyle bunkered down in the nursery to sand all the trim. Outlets were updated, and the black light switch was replaced with a white one. While he was hard at work I was doing quite the opposite. I puttered around the house feeling less than helpful. I was feeling pretty good on Saturday so I cooked up a big steak lunch – well, steak for me and a non-chicken chicken cutlet for Odie. After lunch and another hour of sanding for the hubster we went on a chilly family walk. Since my winter jacket no longer can button over my expanding midsection, I’ve resorted to wearing lots of layers usually topped off with one or more of Kyle’s  jackets. Later that night we had a few friends over for dinner and board games.

Sunday I awoke feeling pretty icky. I had managed to sleep through most of the night uninterrupted so I knew I was well rested. I was short of breath and very junky all day. I seem to have a cycle of alternating good days and bad days. I have clinic in two weeks so I’d be interested to see what my lung function looks like. I think some antibiotics might be in my future. A small 2-3 week course might just be the kick I need to hold me off until a full tune-up right before my due date. It would be good timing as Bactrim (my cultures’ drug of choice) is the most safely used while in the second trimester.
By Sunday night Kyle managed to finish prepping all the trim, and I managed to come to terms that I wasn’t going to get anything remotely important or productive done.  We went to bed and chatted about possible girl names and other various baby related topics.

Upon waking up this morning I feel halfway between ‘good’ and ‘meh.’ It’s all comparative these days, so in comparison to yesterday I’m feeling better. I slept through the night with little interruptions and I haven’t coughed so hard/much to throw up. So far I’d say today is a good day!

Hope everyone is having a happy start to their week! 18 week update will be up tomorrow.

17 Weeks!

How Far Along: 17 Weeks!

Total weight gain/loss: I am up to 120.8lbs, up from pre-pregnancy of 114. Total gain of 6.8lbs!

Maternity clothes? This particular outfit is all non-maternity stuff. Jeggings and a super stretchy top from H&M. I’ve been looking forward to wearing some of the things my neighbor brought over for me, lots of sweaters for the cold weather! Still loving my “MamaJeans” from H&M- so much so that I’m tempted to go buy a new pair so I can alternate between two pairs.

Stretch marks? Nope. I’m slathering myself in coconut oil mostly because my belly has started getting itchy. I also found it basically makes my keratosis pilaris (“chicken skin”)on the back of my arms/legs disappear!

Sleep: Sleeping better this week. No lower back pain. I wake up quite a few times during the night to flop over to my other side. Normally, I would be able to sleep right through the process but I fear with my belly getting bigger waking up to roll over is the new norm.

Best moment this week: Lot’s of great moments this week. I finally managed to get my breakfast sugar levels below 140. I also heard nuggets heartbeat on the doppler for the first time yesterday. Nugget also was rubbing his/her face and yawning on ultrasound – which left my heart melting into puddle of mommy hormones.

Miss Anything? Still missing that warm weather… spring, you’re welcome to come early this year! In fact, just last night Kyle told me I’m allowed to actually send him out for things when I’m craving them. Aka: I wanted chicken wings at 11pm last night, and we went out and got some. I could get used to that…

Movement: Feeling some rolls and wiggles late at night when I’ve been lying still for a while! Can’t wait till they’re noticeable through my belly so Kyle can feel them too.

Food Cravings:Chicken wings. More specifically the chicken wings I gorged on during a christmas eve get together. Teriyaki chicken wings made in the crock pot, just to the point where they were starting to get sticky and blackened. They were SO good. I think I ate about a dozen of the things. The chicken wings I had last night? Eh, not so much.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Coughing is the only thing making me sick these days. Usually I can cough for a good 25 minutes or so before triggering my gag reflex. All it takes these days is one good cough. It could be a buildup of coughs, it could be sudden. It certainly makes life much more interesting.

Gender: We tried to peek at the gender yesterday with the OB’s portable ultrasound machine, but man, this little baby is determined to make me wait until Feb. 4th. Little Nugget was curled up so tightly we couldn’t see much. While we saw a few in between the leg shots, it wasn’t the right angle to really see, so I left with another guess. Another guess of GIRL. Two for two right now on the girl guesses.

Labor signs: No.

Belly button in or out? It’s in for the most part. I had the OB check it to see if it’s just already starting to flip inside out, or if I do have an umbilical hernia. I have a VERY tiny defect according to the OB, which shouldn’t be a problem especially as I get bigger, the uterus will protect the small gap I have. On a side note, the way to determine this, medically of course, is to try to stick your pinky finger through said ‘gap’ to determine how big your hernia is. Um… I wish I was kidding. Most uncomfortable thing to date. I’m already pretty weirded out by people touching my normal belly button, never mind trying to push your pinky through a hole in my belly button. Gross. Moving on.

Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been happier this week. Thank goodness! I still have my snappy moments, but overall doing alright. This question should really be answered by Kyle, I think he’s a better judge of my mood. 😉

Looking forward to: The weekend! I’ve convinced Kyle to prep the trim in the nursery so we can start caulking it and painting it. I’ve been picking out colors for the walls; right now I have a pretty gender neutral scheme. It’s a more non-traditional color scheme since I’m not into the “pastel blue for boys, Pink for girls” type stuff. Hint, the color palette contains the color aubergine. “That’s not a color, you’re just making things up now…” –Kyle

I’m excited to get started and start ordering big things like cribs, and gliders!

I do believe this concludes the 17 week survey  Are there any question you think I should add to the survey to answer each week?
