I’m going to deviate from my normal post for this week. Usually I just fill out that pregnancy survey and call it a day. A lot of the questions just have me repeating myself.

This week has been pretty awesome. I entered the 3rd trimester. I gained some more weight, and celebrated a birthday with a visit from my father! Oh, and how could I forget… we finally painted the accent wall and the crib is set up!

For my birthday my lovely hubby bought me some flowers and a camera remote. I went a little crazy with the thing and ended up taking almost 150 pictures in under 30 minutes. I tried walking shots, twirling shot and even through in some jumping shots. It’s safe to say that I love my little camera remote! I can’t wait to try my hand at taking some family pictures with the bump. We’ll see what my photo-hating husband has to say about that one. =)

As far as symptoms go I’ve been hit this week with exhaustion. There have been a couple of days where I’ve woken up with absolutely no energy to do anything! By the time I’m done eating breakfast, doing my vest and meds I’m ready to go back to bed!

They say it’s common to experience exhaustion during the third trimester but I am hard pressed to believe that it would kick in so soon! I have a feeling that this little girl hanging out in my belly maybe going through a growth spurt. I’ve had an itchy belly and I’ve put on just shy of another pound since last week!

Another symptom I’ve been experience is shortness of breath. Having CF this isn’t unusual- especially with the weather. We are fluctuating between mid 60’s and low 20’s. I kid you not. Saturday was a wonderful 67 degrees and then Sunday- high of 40.  We’re getting snow all day tomorrow, and then by the end of the week will see the 60’s again. This kind of fluctuation really takes a toll on my asthmatic lungs. I breathe much easier in the warmer weather, so to have them going from relaxed to tight in such rapid succession has resulted in a lot of huffing and puffing on my end.

I still feel like little nugget has yet to really reach the stage where she starts pressing on my diaphragm and lungs. I feel like my coughing is still forceful and productive (sorry little baby! You’re still getting lots of ‘momma hugs.’) It’s only a matter of time until that no longer is the case.

Since I spend a decent amount of the day chatting to little Overdeep, Kyle has taken it upon himself to read to her at night. Normally I think people read stories along the lines of Peter Rabbit, or maybe even Harry Potter, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we are not following that trend. To be fair, I did look for my collection of Beatrix Potter books but it’s lost among the shuffle. Next best book, Norse Mythology. I kid you not, our child is already listening to Odin and the AEsir. She always kicks and rolls around when listening to her daddy read.

Baby O. got really excited last night listening to Kyle explain the newest physics news. We may have a future scientist on our hands. Judging by the amount of kicks, rolls, and punches she was delivering to my gut while listening to the exciting physics news, I can only imagine they were caused by excitement.

Speaking of excitement, now that the room is really coming together and all the large things are done we can start the next phase: decorating! I’d like to install some shelves to the wall left of the crib, add some art on the opposite wall, create a mobile, add curtains, sew a crib skirt, etc. etc. Kyle let it slip that he was probably more excited for the decorating stage than the actual painting stage. Such a cutie.

Have a great week everyone!

26 Weeks

How far along? 26 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I gained 2 pounds this week! Hooray! Brings my total up to 12 lbs. I just need to keep gaining each week and I’ll be golden!
Maternity clothes? Yes and no. If I want to wear skinny jeans I’ll pull the belly band out and rock  these Lucky jeans my sister passed on to me. I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to wear my Maxi dresses again!

Stretch marks? None yet. I definitely feel periods of where my belly feels very ‘stretched’ but so far no marks.
Sleep: Sleeping pretty well this past week– minus last night where Oliver kept waking me up. And then there was having to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at 5 am…

Best moment this week: We had a nice lunch visit with Meghan and she felt some little ninja kicks while she was here! Always so exciting that other people get to feel little miss move around.

Nursery walls (3 out of 4) are painted! The crib was also delivered today and my Birthday is tomorrow. It’s been quite the week of great moments.
Miss Anything? Exercising! We had some great 60 degree days and I managed to get out and get some exercise. I was encouraged (now that I don’t have my picc lines anymore) to start exercising again. I don’t have any restrictions as long as I build back up to my tolerance level. I have been ‘power walking’ and stretching. On Friday I added some jogging into my power walking and it was just what I needed! It felt so great to be moving. I also think it helped realign something in my back because my tailbone felt SO much better afterwards.

Movement: Little lady loves to dance. She’s changed her sleeping habits so now she’s awake more so when I’m up. She also wakes up and moves around when we listen to music or read aloud.
Food Cravings: Strawberries! I bought a package this past week and they were perfection. I’m headed out later today to pick up more. =)

Tried to take a silhouette type picture…

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Finally feeling pretty good! I’ve been feeling pretty short of breath lately but I believe it’s a combo of the weather changes (60 degrees to snowing?) and getting further along in pregnancy. It causes me to have an asthmatic type cough which is unproductive and highly annoying. Besides that and some round ligament pain, I’m feeling good!

Gender: “Quite Girly” according to the ultrasound technician at Friday’s scan.

Labor signs: None

Belly button in or out? Whatever it is, it’s weird. Take my word for it.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy camper this week. Gaining weight has really taken a lot of my anxiety away. My ultrasound on Friday also helped ease a lot of my ‘weight gain’ anxiety. Little Lady is right on track and weighs about 1 lb 8 oz. She was head down with her feet up towards my right ribs. I theorize that she likes to be head down so I don’t squash her head everytime I cough. I’ve been telling her that I’m just “hugging her” when I cough. She gets hugged A LOT. =D

Looking forward to:  Lot’s to look forward to: I’m turning 25 tomorrow, my father’s coming down for a visit, and of course I’m looking forward to setting up that crib!

25 Weeks

How far along? 25 weeks – only 15 more to go!
Total weight gain/loss: Total gain of only 10 lbs so far. Had a long chat with my nutritionists at my last visit. I’m just not eating enough calories. I need at least 3500 calories if not more, depending on activity level and health.  Currently I’ve had a good eating day if I hit 2500. Little ninja will obviously take what she needs from me, but we don’t want me wasting away in the process! I’ve been trying very hard to up my calorie intake, but it’s proving pretty difficult. Eating when you’re not hungry is stressful.
Maternity clothes?  This lovely ensemble is all non-maternity. My pair of “big jeans” held together via hair elastic and a Target clearance tee in a few sizes up.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: My tailbone is starting to feel better so I’m finally sleeping through the night again! Glorious sleep.
Best moment this week: Getting outside for some exercise and vitamin D since we’ve hit the 60’s the last few days!
Miss Anything?
Movement: I’m feeling less kicks and more wiggles these days. As she gets bigger I can really feel her rolling around.
Food Cravings: No real food cravings this week.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing really comes to mind. Now if this darn tailbone would just heal all the way I’d be a happy camper.
Gender: I bought the cutest pair of mint polkadotted pants for little miss, so she better still be a she!
Labor signs: Negative
Belly button in or out? It’s visible through my shirts now. I think I might officially declare it an outie.

Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been loving the warmer weather, but had one emotional day when I was feeling down about not gaining weight. It’s just stressful to have a nutritionist talk at you about how to boost your caloric intake when you’ve heard it all your life, and you know it by heart, but you just aren’t hungry.
Looking forward to: Sister-in-law is swinging by for a quick lunch visit while she’s in town for work! I’m also looking forward to my Friday ultrasound as it’s always reassuring and fun to see my little girl wiggling away on the screen!

Pregnancy Favorites

 1.  2.  3.  5.  7.  8.

Now that I’m over halfway done (what?!) I’ve rounded up the things that have so far made my pregnancy much easier. I can’t imagine NOT having these things. Without further ado, my top 8 Pregnancy Favorites.
Coconut Oil. This stuff is like a magical elixir. A growing belly combined with the dry cold winter air provided by all these “polar vortex”s these days leads to a rather dry and itchy situation. In order to retain any and all moisture I have, I slather this stuff on in the shower. I’ll occasionally use it in between showering as a regular moisturizer before bed.  While using the coconut oil in hopes of avoiding stretch marks, I discovered something great! It has made my Keratosis Pilaris disappear.
Keratosis Pilaris is a skin condition that according to Wikipedia affects nearly 50% of the worldwide population. Up to 80% of adolescents with the majority being women. It’s basically a build up of keratin so that your hair follicles become trap creating a red bump. It’s most common on the back of the arms, thighs, and sometimes bumcheeks. For me my KP is always worse during the dry winter. My KP bumps on my arms and thighs get red, irritated, and itchy. Sometimes the little bumps end up bleeding.  Once upon a time, I had a special dermatological lotion that I had to apply 3 times daily for months before seeing a result in a smoother arm. It wasn’t worth the cost and time. Now? My arms and legs are the smoothest they have ever been. Not a bump to be seen! Coconut oil is the only change I’ve made. You better believe I will continue to use this as my in shower moisturizer from now on. And the 50% of the people who also suffer from those strange little annoying bumps, you’re welcome!
Next up is my acrylic cup and straws. I always loved straws but since falling pregnant I now drink everything through a straw. I was gifted an insulated clear acrylic cup for christmas <Thanks Pat! It’s still my favorite cup> and the top so happens to fit my acrylic straws perfectly. I usually fill my cup with iced tea, or watered down juice. While the one pictured isn’t the one I have, it perfectly represents my need for a designated ‘water’ cup.
Being pregnant with CF presents a few challenges that most women don’t have to deal with. One of these challenges is being able to gain enough weight! Most nutritionist recommend drinking your standard supplement drink: think Boost or Ensure. While these are packed with calories  they are also packed with things I can’t pronounce. Not to mention the taste is terrible! Thankfully my nutritionist recommended a newer, organically made supplement drink, Orgain. I bought a few to try thinking it’d be just like all the other supplement drinks out there, and boy, was I surprised. I actually enjoyed drinking them. I enjoyed them so much I found myself craving them! They’re made of an organic blend of proteins, fruits, veggies, and other great things. Having Orgains everyday really has helped me to keep my weight up – even during the flu!- and slowly gain some pounds.
During the first trimester I always had ginger ale on hand. While I wasn’t experiencing any true morning sickness, my gag reflex was super sensitive. If I coughed hard enough I was bound to throw up, and once I started I couldn’t stop! Enter my lovely ginger ale. Something about it made it easy to sip and helped keep my coughing/gagging under control. Later during the pregnancy it was my ‘go-to’ for correcting a low blood sugar. All in all it’s been super handy having it around.
That kind of leads me to my next ‘must have’ of pregnancy. Undies. Lots and lots of undies. It was only a matter of weeks before my regular underoos because uncomfortable. I also had a few weeks where I was coughing non-stop. Coughing non-stop all day every day leads to some sore and tired muscles. Apparently it also leads to peeing your pants, frequently.
Imagine that you do push ups everyday. You can do a lot of push-ups on a daily basis without getting tired. Go you! Now, imagine someone forced you to do continuous push-ups without stopping… all day. There’s only so much your muscles could handle before you literally couldn’t do another push-up.  That’s me, except I’m not talking push-ups, I’m talking about pelvic floor muscles. You know, the muscles that help you hold your pee in while you sneeze. They also help you out when you cough. In my case, after a day of nonstop coughing, those muscle are tired! They stop working on ya. Which leads to the case of needing lots and lots of undies, and a sense of humor. Peeing your pants is funny when you’re a kid, not so much when you’re an adult. Once the coughing was more under control (thanks to getting over the flu) so was the whole peeing in my pants ordeal. Moving on.

Since I was about 10 I’ve always slept with a body pillow. I can even remember the purple fleece cover my mother made for the winter season. I never stopped sleeping with a body pillow and now that I’m pregnant? Well, I sleep with two. I sandwich myself between the two and call it good; Kyle calls it a barricade.
When my jeans no longer buttoned I turned to maternity jeans. I originally had a pair from Old Navy and one from Motherhood Maternity. A week or so after buying these pants I found a pair of maternity jeans (in my size) at the thrift store. They were cheap and already broken in, but in great condition. This is where I profess my love for these jeans. They happened to be H&M’s Mama Jeans, and they feel like wearing PJ’s. These jeans are so darn comfy that I returned my other two pairs. I’m looking forward to finding a pair of skinnies next time I’m at my local H&M store.
My last item is a staple for winter. Fleece lined leggings in a size up. They’re warm, they’re cozy and the waist stretches like you wouldn’t believe! I’m not even sure how I survived previous winters without these things. I have several pairs, and while my sister is going to cringe, I wear them all the time… as pants! At least I always make sure that my shirts are tunic length when wearing leggings as pants.

I’m sure as my pregnancy continues and I get bigger I’ll run into more issue and perhaps have different products that I’ll deem as a necessity. I mean, I hear your feet swell up and sometimes your shoe size is permanently altered… shoe shopping anyone? For now, these are pretty much my main go-to’s.

*Disclaimer: I was not compensated to rave about any of the mentioned products. All products were bought with my own money, and all opinions are my own*

24 Weeks

How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Total gain of about 10 pounds so far.
Maternity clothes? Yes and no. I’m finding my maternity jeans are starting to get annoying. They do that thing where they stretch out almost immediately. I’ve been recently going out with regular jeans held up with a belly band. (Thanks Julie!)

Stretch marks? None yet!
Sleep: Sleep has been hit and miss. I’m consistently waking up every few hours just to roll over, have something to drink, or lately because my belly has been causing me pain. (Don’t panic! It’s just round ligament pain from a growing belly.)

Best moment this week: We got the glider! We also had a wonderful visit from Kyle’s parents.
Miss Anything? I’m feeling like I’ve become a lot weaker, and I miss having muscles. I’ve lost quite a bit of muscle tone over the last few months just from exhaustion, sitting around in a hospital bed, and not exercising like I used to.

Movement: Kyle’s mom was able to feel little ninja do some kicks and flips.
Food Cravings:I can’t think of anything specific I craved this week, but I definitely had a few “pregnancy crazy moments” to make up for the lack of food cravings.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  No! Thank goodness! I did manage to hurt my tailbone by helping lift the glider into the car (it didn’t fit for anyone interested) and it’s still recovering. It hurt to cough for the first 4 days so I’ve been subconsciously avoiding coughing. By day 3 I could feel the affects of not efficiently coughing. Now that it’s feeling better and no longer kills me to cough I’ve been coughing quite a bit.

Gender: She is still a she, and no, we still won’t share her name. =)

Labor signs: None! I’ve been having some stomach pain to the point where it wakes me up, but it turns out it’s just round ligament pain due to a growing baby & growing uterus.

Belly button in or out? By now you know that I have this weird thing about belly buttons. I think they’re just plain ‘ole creepy. It’s started it’s final journey of flipping inside out. Half of it’s out and half of it’s stuck in the flat pancake stage. And yes, it freaks me out. Blah.

Happy or moody most of the time? Like I previously mentioned I’ve had some crazy pregnancy moments this week. One of which was a major hissy-fit & meltdown when the glider we picked up wouldn’t fit in the car so we had to go back for it the next day. I had a slight episode of nesting rage, since I just wanted the damn glider THAT night. While logically I knew it wasn’t a big deal, my mommy hormones said otherwise. It felt like the end of the world people. My poor husband.

Looking forward to:  Now that the glider is here! woohoo! And my husband and his father painted the nursery ceiling white (and finished caulking) I can go pick up the room paint and get started! After that we can order the crib and start getting things set up! I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to walk into a white-ceiling, empty room and sit in the glorious glider! My crazy mommy hormones are satisfied… for now.

23 Weeks

How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Total gain of about 10 pounds so far.
Maternity clothes? I recently found some great T-shirt bargains at Target. They weren’t maternity shirts (except for the one I’m wearing here) but they were 2.50$. I bought a couple sizes up and hopefully they’ll last long enough for my growing belly.
I’ve been wearing maternity jeans, but the one thing that really bugs me about them is they get so baggy so quickly! They look great when I first put them on, but then five minutes later the legs and but are all lumpy and frumpy. I wore regular jeans with a belly band yesterday and I felt much more put together. They weren’t as comfortable for a long period of time, but for running a few errands it did the trick!

Stretch marks? None yet. I think I’m gaining weight so slowly that my belly really hasn’t had to stretch super duper quickly yet so I’ve been able to avoid stretch marks this far. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks as they want me to start gaining a pound a week!
Sleep: I officially kicked kyle out of the bed! I need two body pillows to comfortably sleep and I can no longer roll from side to side without looking like a beached whale. Normally I roll in place from side to side, but now with a big round belly (that just keeps getting bigger!) my rolls have turned into flops. I am now flopping from one side to the other, and it takes up about 3/4 of the bed to do so.

Best moment this week: Visiting with my mom and sister. My mom felt the baby kick, but my little miss went stone cold every time my sister tried to feel! I also got my Picc line out on Monday and took a shower without my arm being in a bag. First “bag-less” shower in almost 3 weeks! Miss Anything? I’m really missing gymnastics. I’m also missing warm weather- it was in the 60’s this weekend and sunny! Such a tease because now it’s snowing.

Movement: This girl is going to be a gymnast just like her mama! She kicks, flips, and rolls all night long! She also continues to jam out to music.
Food Cravings:I swear I’m continually craving Dr. Pepper. Last week it was a rootbeer float.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Yes. Unfortunately one of the reasons I missed last week’s post is due to one of my IV meds making me sick! I started running fevers again along with having the shakes and chills. It also thoroughly messed up my digestive tract and I was having stomach aches after every meal. Those symptoms plus having a picc line that was really sluggish landed me in the ER (and then Labor and Delivery since the ER refuses to see patients over 16 weeks pregnant…). It was quite the ordeal since L&D doesn’t ever deal with picc lines, and at the time we thought it was infected. After a few confusing hours of “where the heck am I suppose to go?” I ended up staying in L&D and getting all the tests for Picc done and being sent home. I was feeling better so we extended the hold on my IV’s and I’ve been off them since. We now know that I shouldn’t use one of the drugs I was on since I was most likely having a reaction to it.

On a diffferent note, while sitting in our L&D triage room we could hear the woman laboring next door to us. Kyle turns to me with wide terror eyes and let’s me know that if I’m going to be screaming things like she is, (“I can’t do it, it hurts too much, ow, etc.) he may pass out… as a heads up.  Bahaha. I’m sure he’s not the first husband to pass out, and I’m sure if he does, he won’t be the last.

Gender: Baby girl! We’ve bought some cute dresses and girly things while shopping with Auntie and Grandma this past weekend!! So darn cute. However, I would like to point out that we also have picked up a few items from the boys section because girls can wear little monster hoodies too…

Labor signs: None! With all the stomach pain and cramping from the IV drug, I was worried it would lead to some early contractions. Luckily that was not the case.

Belly button in or out? It’s in it’s weird flat as a pancake stage. It’s starting to look a little bulgy again so I’m sure it’s going to be flipping out any week now. I’m just throwing this out there, belly buttons are weird. They’re weird to begin with and then during pregnancy? Oh forget it, I don’t think it’ll ever get weirder than this.

Happy or moody most of the time? I’ve been feeling pretty good this past week. Lots of laughing. In fact, I may have peed my pants a little last night laughing so hard at the dinner table. (IT BEGINS! DUN DUN DUN) I also laughed myself to the point of crying while we were at the hospital during the whole ER/L&D debacle. When you feel better, you’re happier. When you’re happier you laugh more. Let’s hope I continue to laugh all the way to June!

Looking forward to:  Our glider came in! I can’t wait to pick it up and assemble it. We’re also having Kyle’s parents down this week and I’m looking forward to their visit. Next week we’re sseeing his sister since she’s down for work, and after that my Dad is visiting! My birthday is thrown in there somewhere too. Lot’s of fun and exciting things happening and I’m so thankful that I’m actually feeling great and will be able to enjoy all our visits.

21 Weeks

How far along? 21 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: At my appointment yesterday I weighed in at 123.7! Take about 1.5lbs for my jeans and heavy shirt, and we’re looking at 122. Up from last week’s 119.5 –I’m feeling much more relieved knowing I’m starting to gain some weight again.
Maternity clothes? Since having another stay at the hospital hotel, my week consisted of PJ pants and Kyle’s Tee’s. Now that I’m home I’m enjoying wearing some normal human clothes for when I go out. The top in these pictures is a maternity shirt I hope to be able to wear for the remaining 19 weeks!
Stretch marks? None so far, but oh the belly button!
Sleep: This past hospital stay I demanded that no-one wake me up for vitals every 4 hours. Since I was just in for the flu (where they did indeed, wake me up every 3-4 hours) they agreed my sleep was more important. It went pretty well, except for one CNA who didn’t get the memo. Now that I’m home I’m sleeping much more comfortably in my big bed! I’ve temporarily kicked Kyle to the office couch so he doesn’t accidentally punch my Picc arm while we sleep, or get tangled in my IV tubes.
Best moment this week: So many nice moments this week. I’d say it’s a three way tie between going home, gaining some weight, and sorting through little girl hand-me-downs!

Hard to believe the person that I’m growing will FIT into this onesie at some point.

Miss Anything? Getting out of bed without feeling like an oompa loompa. Who knew I’d have to be ‘rolling’ out so soon.
Movement: Baby Girl is still quite the wiggler. She still is in her favorite position; curled up with her hands over her face (as seen on a quick ultrasound yesterday). Her head is still on my left side, with her bum, knees and feet on my right.
Food Cravings:While I have no specific cravings, I am finding myself actually feeling hungry again! Food is much easier to eat when you actually feel hungry vs. just forcing yourself to eat  because it’s been x amount of time since you last ate.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I usually drink all my beverages through reusable straws. I decided to forgo the straw yesterday morning for breakfast, and ended up getting sick after being able to ‘smell the milk’ in my cup. Um? Totally out of the blue, totally weird. I went back to using straws.
Belly button in or out? Oh my little belly button. It’s no longer half in and half out, it’s at this flat pancake stage. You can obviously see that it’s still a belly button, but it’s pretty flush with the rest of the belly. I’d take a picture of it for you but then you’d stop reading my blog.
Happy or moody most of the time? I’d say around day 4 in the hospital I started feeling SO much better. When you feel better you’re just plain happier. Good moods followed for the rest of the week! Here’s to many more weeks of feeling better and being happy!
Looking forward to:  1. Picking up the Glider soon!
                            2. Family coming down to visit.

                            3. Finalizing paint colors and getting the room painted.

My IV pump bag has become my temporary baby. I have to lug this thing EVERYWHERE.

Oliver’s Favorite Room

Poor Oliver; his favorite room has been overthrown by boxes of baby girl clothing!

21 week post will be up tomorrow. Today was spent traveling to appointments (baby is doing great! I’m feeling better after another stay in the hospital), administering home IV’s, and sorting through some baby-girl hand-me-downs.

Baby Overdeep is a Girl!

How far along? 20 Weeks! Half-way done.

Total weight gain/loss: Still holding out at 120ish. I’m supposed to start gaining a pound a week from this point out. We’ll see how that goes, but so far I’m doubtful that I’ll be able to pull it off.
Maternity clothes? Rocking my mix of maternity jeans, stretchy shirts, and some maternity shirts.
Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: Sleep has gotten better. I didn’t get much in the hospital, but ever since I’ve been home I’ve been sleeping soundly. With the exception of last night; I was too excited for the finalizing of the gender this morning.
Best moment this week: Finding out that we are officially having a baby girl! She’s growing really well, and everything looks great so far.
Miss Anything? I miss being able to bend over without thinking about it. I’m starting to get uncomfortable when I’m putting on my lace-up winter boots.
Movement: This girly is already practicing her soccer skills. I feel kicks and punches all day long! She jams out when I’m listening to upbeat music, or when I’m playing the piano & singing. She tends to roll around a lot at night! There have been some instances where she hunkers down in one spot, usually to one side or the other, and it can get quite uncomfortable. But, I love it and wouldn’t trade it for the world! Especially when we’re out and about, little nugget will start kicking away and I feel like it’s a secret since I’m the only one who knows!

Food Cravings:  I had a craving for Chicken Korma yesterday, so I ordered chicken korma. haha.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Feeling pretty good now that I’m over the flu!
Yup, it’s a girl.

Gender: Baby Overdeep is a GIRL!

Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? It”s threatening to flip out any time now.
Happy or moody most of the time? Well, all in all pretty happy. I survived the flu with minimal side effects, had a short hospital stay, found out we’re having a girl, and get to go back to napping! I’d say overall this week has been happy!
Looking forward to: Painting the nursery walls so we can order the crib! We already ordered the glider so it will be here in a few weeks!!

“Thumbs up for things going swimmingly”
Baby at the ultrasound today was giving us “thumbs up” for everything going “swimmingly”. <Bad pun created by Kyle> She was so cozy in her spot I have to go back next week for another scan! She was so content that she didn’t move enough for a spinal measurement. Little girl was positioned so that her back was towards my back/ribs. Her bottom was towards my right hip. Since her spine was tucked to the back the technician couldn’t manipulate the image enough to get a measurement. Little troublemaker was kicking the wand away but refused to roll over. She also kept her hands by her face almost the whole time. Hopefully next week she’ll be a bit more cooperative.
Oliver wanted to be in the pictures too! The first picture cracks me up, that face!

I’m not sure Oliver ‘gets’ that I’m pregnant. I think once the baby is here it will be his baby. Fun fact: Pit bulls were originally bred to be ‘nanny dogs’ which is where their territorial instinct comes into play. They were protecting their babies! People then used to them as guard dogs and they got a bad rap. Oliver is the sweetest pumpkin with our neighborhood kids. I can’t wait to see him with the nugget. Like I said, I have a feeling he’s going to think it’s his baby.
Baby during first trimester scan.

19 Weeks

Usually I have much better pictures for this, but considering my options this is as good as it’s going to get.

How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Still sitting pretty at 120ish. (I was 119.6 when being weighed in on Sunday night, but I have very light clothing on vs. the jeans and sweater I had on when I weighed in at 120.8 – we’re calling it the same weight. )
Maternity clothes? PJ pants and t-shirts
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Sleep has been tough the past week. More specially since Saturday. My chest pain makes it uncomfortable to lie flat on my side, coughing keeps me up as does the regular hustle bustle of being in a hospital overnight. Last night I got a few good hours.
Best Worst moment this week: Finding out I have the flu. BOO.
Miss Anything? I miss being able to do handstands and backbends. I feel like I could really use a good back bend. I’m also missing sleep a bit.
Movement: Nugget hunkers down real low when I cough, and I don’t blame her(him) I would want to get away from my constricting stomach muscles too! So the last few days I haven’t felt as much movement as usually. I still feel her(him) flip flop and budge up on my right side when I haven’t been coughing for a while. Usually during the evening.
Food Cravings: Liquids. I just want lots of liquids. Hot broth, cold milk, icy water, etc.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Oh, just the flu.
Gender: ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL WE KNOW FOR SURE!
Labor signs: None- thank goodness that’s the last thing I’d want while I have the flu.
Belly button in or out? It’s working it’s way out. Kyle and I joke, that I’m going to have one big cough and it’s just going to pop itself inside out.
Happy or moody most of the time? Considering the situation (hospital, flu, chest pains, little sleep) I think my mood is pretty good. I’ve only snapped at one person but it’s because they were not following the gown-ing up rule.
Looking forward to: Feeling better and going home! And of course, as usually, the ultrasound next Tuesday.

I don’t have many updates about my stay in the hospital. We’re holding off on getting a picc until we see what my PFT’s look like tomorrow. If they’re not too below baseline then I will most likely keep peripheral lines until I go home. When I go home I’ll most likely go home with oral antibiotics. I’ll go home when my chest pain is alleviated/my flu symptoms are gone and I’m feeling better.

If my PFT’s are WAY below baseline- as in- there’s no way this is just the flu… then I’ll get scheduled for a picc and do a full blown tune-up. Most likely 10 – 12 days inpatient then another week or so of home therapy.

For the moment we’re all still operating under the assumption that all my lung issues are being caused by the flu at the moment. While I’m in the hospital waiting for the flu to leave, I will be getting 2/3 of my normal CF IV cocktail. (Only 2/3 since the last med is a huge No-no in pregnancy.) We’re doing this so that whatever mucus is trapped in my lungs, since I’m having a hard time moving things up and out, won’t fester into a separate infection.
